Quality & assurance

Every load checked before it ships.

In this trade, reputation is the balance sheet. Since 2008 we have kept ours by grading goods honestly, checking them before despatch and putting the evidence in your hands: samples, photographs and weighbridge tickets, not promises.

Grading & sampling

Described as it actually is.

Before we offer a parcel, we look at it. Goods are sampled and assessed against the specification they will be sold on: colour, cleanliness, smell, freedom from contamination and consistency across the lot, not just the bale or bag on top of the stack.

What we tell you is what we found. If a parcel is second grade, we say so and price it accordingly. If it does not meet the standard we would buy ourselves, we do not offer it at all. Buyers come back because the description on the contract matches the goods on the lorry.

Moisture & weight

Measured, not estimated.

Moisture is checked before goods are booked out, because a reading taken in the barn is worth more than an argument at the destination. Loads travelling long distances or into store are checked with particular care, so what arrives is fit to sit.

Weights are established over the weighbridge, and the ticket travels with the paperwork. You are invoiced on what was weighed, not on what was hoped. Where a buyer wants a retained sample or a pre-shipment inspection, we arrange it as part of the trade, not as a favour.

Before despatch

Four things that happen before a load leaves.

🌾

Sampled

Representative samples drawn across the parcel, assessed against the contract specification and retained where agreed.

Moisture checked

Readings taken before booking out, so goods travel and store in the condition the contract describes.

Photographed

Photographs taken as the load is prepared and loaded, sent on request, so you see what is coming before it arrives.

Weighed

Weighbridge tickets issued with the despatch paperwork. You pay for the weight on the ticket.

Paperwork that travels with the goods

The documents you should expect from us.

  • A clear contract confirmation. Commodity, grade, quantity, price basis and delivery terms set out plainly before the goods move.
  • Weighbridge tickets. Issued for every weighed load and matched to the invoice.
  • Photographs before despatch. Of the goods and the loaded vehicle or container, available on request as standard.
  • Delivery documentation. Despatch notes, and for cross-border movements the export and customs paperwork prepared by people who handle it every week.
  • Retained samples. Held for an agreed period on contracts where sampling forms part of the terms, so any dispute can be settled against the same material.
If a load is not right

Claims handled fairly, and quickly.

Agricultural goods are natural products moved over long distances, and occasionally something arrives that is not as it should be. When that happens, we do not disappear behind small print. Tell us within a reasonable time of delivery, keep the goods available for inspection, and send photographs of what you have found along with the delivery paperwork.

We then look at the evidence on both sides: the retained sample, the pre-despatch photographs, the weighbridge ticket and your report from the point of delivery. If the goods are out of specification, we put it right, by replacement, by an agreed allowance or by taking the load back, whichever is the sensible commercial answer. If they are on specification, we show you why. Either way, you get a decision from a senior person, not a holding letter, and the trading relationship carries on.
