The forage desk trades hay, haylage and straw in commercial volumes. Our first call is always the network of UK growers we have bought from season after season since 2008. When the domestic market is short, we import, so our buyers stay supplied while others wait on the weather.
Every load is described as it actually is. If a parcel is not right for your use, we say so and find one that is. That is how the same merchants and yards come back year after year.
Three products, one standard.
Bulk hay
Meadow and seed hay in large squares and rounds, sold by the artic load. Consistent parcels for merchants, dairies and large yards.
Haylage
Wrapped haylage in commercial quantities, sourced from growers who make it well and sealed to hold its condition in transit and storage.
Straw
Barley and wheat straw for bedding and feed, baled clean behind the combine and moved in full loads through the season and beyond it.
Checked before it travels.
Every parcel is graded on colour, smell, moisture and bale weight before it is offered. Forage bought unseen is a gamble; forage bought through us is not. The description you get is the load that arrives.

The desk buys as well as sells. We purchase standing crops of hay and straw ahead of the season and take surplus forage from farmers who have more in the barn than they need.

Forage is a freight business as much as a farming one. We arrange haulage door to door on full artic loads across the UK, and ship containers when the trade crosses a border, with the documentation handled by people who do it every week.
Loads arrive when they should, in the condition they left. That is the whole job, and we have been doing it for nearly two decades.
